Because the germ is the reproductive part of the seed, it contains the myriad nutrients necessary for germination and growth of new wheat plants. Although it accounts for only about 2%-3% of the whole wheat berry, the germ is the most nutritionally dense part of the kernel.
Wheat germ and wheat bran are byproducts of the milling of refined wheat products. During the milling process, the bran and germ are removed, leaving only the far less nutrient-rich endosperm.
To Toast in Oven: Preheat oven to 350 F. Evenly spread ½ cup of wheat germ on a rimmed baking sheet or casserole dish. Shake pan to spread the germ evenly in a thin layer. Bake 3-5 minutes, watching for germ to start darkening. For more even toasting, shake pan again and toast for 2 more minutes.
Suggestions:
1. Sprinkle toasted wheat germ over cereal, yogurt, or fruit.
2. Eat toasted germ on its own as a cold cereal, topped with fresh fruit or nuts.
3. Replace up to 25% of the flour in your favorite recipes for pancakes, muffins, cookies or even cakes.
4. Use in place of oats in toppings for casseroles or pies.
5. Mix equal parts of wheat germ and cornmeal for a tasty breading for chicken, fish, or pork chops.
6. Add toasted germ to shakes or smoothies.
7. Substitute wheat germ for breadcrumbs in burgers, meatloaf, and meatballs.
Storage: Because of its high natural oil content, wheat germ can become rancid if not properly stored. To maintain freshness, keep your wheat germ in an air-tight container the refrigerator or freezer.

I have been using the Shiloh Farms brand for a while now . It taste great, the the price is right, shipping was fast!

I've been using toasted wheat germ as or on my morning cereal for 35 years and Shiloh Farms is by far the best. I toast it in an iron skillet on the stove burner on medium heat for 20-25 minutes, turning it regularly. The flavor is incredibly good. I never tire of it.

Shiloh Farms sent me a bag of this as a gift, thank you! I decided to make the Cinnamon Applesauce Muffins today and they were so wonderful! Delicious! I will be ordering this in the future.
