SHILOH FARMS Whole Wheat Pitas are hearth baked with the wonderful old-world texture and taste. The "pocket" in pita bread is created by steam, which puffs up the dough. As the bread cools and flattens, a pocket is left in the middle. When removed from the oven, the layers of baked dough remain separated inside the deflated pita, which allows the bread to be opened into pockets, creating a space for use in various dishes. People fill the pockets with various ingredients to form a sandwich.

To Prepare:
Keep Frozen until ready to use, then allow to thaw at room temperature. Heat in a warm oven to enhance the flavor.

2. Fill pita pockets with fresh berries and whipped cream cheese desserts or treats.
3. Vegetables and meat dishes are great in the pita pockets.

I am so grateful to Shiloh Farms Bakery for continuing to make this delicious pita. I recently went through not being able to order it by the case--very traumatic--but bought some whole spelt pita to fill in. It was a very good substitute, seemed to be slightly thinner and sweeter, but also delicious and oil-free.

This pita is the most delicious, healthy whole wheat pita around. I make pizzas with it: toast it well done, put marinara sauce on top, then low-fat mozzarella or Jarlsberg cheese....can even add roasted peppers and onions....anything you want!

I have modified my procedure for storing the pitsa since last year. As soon as they arrive, I take one package from the case of pitas, open it, and re-stack the 6 pitas so they are top to top, bottom to bottom, flipping each one over so they stack more loosely. They are packed while still fresh, so there is settling during shipping. I close each bag with a wooden clothespin, a very useful kitchen tool( in my opinion). Then into the freezer, one package at a time, and not stacked on top of each other. Thaw as needed in the butter keeper of the refrigerator, as we don't eat butter, in its package and take out one or two as needed. I keep two packs in the fridge, one as a back-up for when the other goes empty.

Everything about this pita bread is awesome! Easily separate the pockets, wholesome, and large pieces. Shiloh Farms does such a great job on their end. The products ship quickly and efficiently. The packaging is top-notch. Thanks to Shiloh Farms for offering such wonderful products!

I'm a huge pita fan. This is definitely one of the best. The only change I would like is - a thicker version. The pocket is thin and when you separate it does not hold up very well.
