Cooking Directions: Sort and rinse. Cover with water and soak overnight. Drain. Bring 3 cups water or stock and 1 cup Sprouted Barley to a boil. Cover, reduce, and simmer 45-60 minutes, or until grain is tender. Season to taste.
Suggestions:
1. A favorite soup grain, barley is also a great addition to chili, stews, casseroles, and salads.
2. Barley may substituted for rice or other grains in any recipe.
3. Pair barley with green beans, fresh peas, mushrooms, and onions.
4. Cook in fruit juice or milk, then top with toasted nuts, seeds and/or fresh fruit for a hearty breakfast.
5. Grind or crack barley to add flavor and texture to crackers, breads, and other baked goods.
