SHILOH FARMS Organic Oat Bran contains about 50% more fiber and soluble fiber than rolled oats. It also significantly more nutrient-rich, containing higher levels of protein, calcium, iron, thiamin, phosphorus, riboflavin, magnesium, and zinc.

Oat bran is the edible outer layer of the oat grain obtained by milling dehulled steamed oats. Oat bran is a very concentrated form of soluble fiber which reduces the absorption of cholesterol into the bloodstream, and reduces the low-density lipoprotein (LDL), otherwise known as the "bad" cholesterol. Once consumed, oat bran enters the digestive tract, where its soluble fiber absorbs water and forms a gel-like substance (bolus), creating a feeling of fullness. This process removes calories from the body and slows down sugar assimilation.

To Cook: Add 1/3 cup flakes to 1 cup boiling water & cook approximately 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat & let stand 2 minutes before serving.

Suggestions:
1. While cooking, stir in ¼ teaspoon of cinnamon. Top with milk, dried fruit or nuts, and your favorite natural sweetener. 
2. Give a nutritional boost to breads, cookies, muffins, pancakes, and other baked goods.
3. Add to casseroles, meatloaf, or hamburgers.
4. Mix a little oat bran into breadings or crumb toppings.
5. To enhance its nutty flavor, toast at 375°F for 5-7 minutes, or until lightly browned.
6. Stir into smoothies or shakes.
