Shiloh Farms is dedicated to bringing our customers superior quality products made from the purest ingredients available in nature. As such, we make it our priority to provide accurate information to our customers for the safe consumption of our products. We understand that providing safe, clean food is key for our customers, and as a result, have added the statement “Must be cooked/heated prior to consumption”, or "Not intended for raw consumption" to the Shiloh Farms items that are raw products.
In the last few years, it has been discovered that certain raw products can carry pathogens, that when in the correct conditions (moisture, temperature), can grow and cause foodborne illness. Any raw material that a supplier has labeled or provided information indicating that it is "Not Intended for Raw Consumption", means nothing has been done to control the possible food safety hazard identified with their product. This labeling is required for compliance with the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) Preventive Controls for Human Food (PCHF) Regulation.
Thus, for Shiloh Farms to also be in compliance with FSMA regulations, the statement “Must be cooked prior to consumption”, or "Not intended for raw consumption" has been added to the packaging for our raw products. This statement is to alert customers that they are about to consume a raw product that has not been pasteurized, and that we recommend this product to be cooked/heated before consuming.
